The files are grouped under two broad sections, Knowing the Truth and Living the Truth.

bulletKnowing the Truth includes sermons and articles focusing on biblical teachings, doctrines and matters of theology that form the basis of our faith.
bulletLiving The Truth contains material dealing with practical application of our faith, the way we are to live in response to the grace and truth that we have received in Jesus.

Without knowing the truth, we don't know how to live our new lives.   Without living the truth, our knowledge is hollow and empty, worthless and merely theory.

Under each section it is hoped to add material from other writers and speakers.   If you would like to recommend or contribute material for this collection, please let me know wcg3ph@wcg.org.au

Newy.gif (1866 bytes)  I have recently begun to use the Revised Common Lectionary as a sermon planning guide.  You will find most recent sermons are under that heading.  Those for 1999 largely work through the life of our Saviour as addressed in the book of Matthew.

For information on the use of material from this site, please see the bottom of this page.

"Living the Truth"

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) Gifts Given to Give

I Corinthians 12

No matter who we are, or what we think of ourselves, God has given us unique gifts.  We give because we have been blessed by being given to, we don't give to get God's approval.

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) Telling the Lost About Jesus

Luke 24:13-35 The Road to Emmaus

Jesus demonstrates how we are to reach the lost, and how he cares for them, and also for us when we wander off and get a bit lost ourselves.

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) Releasing and Sending the Doubtful and Fearful

John 20:19-21

Ever feel afraid, or find your faith wavering?  The disciples did.  See how Jesus helps us at such times.

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) I Desire Mercy Not Sacrifice

Matthew 9:9-12, 18-26

What do most people out there think makes a Christian and Christian?  Those who are moral and do good works?

Who did Jesus come to be with and bring to himself?   The righteous?  In this passage some myths are shattered, and we find much encouragement especially when we feel unclean and unworthy of Jesus' help and presence.

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) Come to Me All You Who Are Heavy Laden

Matthew 11:25-30

Having a hard time with life?  Stressed, overwhelmed?   Guilt and shame getting you down?  Find out how Jesus can help you deal with the pressures of life.

"The Parables of Jesus"

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) The Parable of the Sower   Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

How do we respond to God's word, his gospel, his Son, his love and encouragement, his correction, his companionship?

"Knowing the Truth"

Newy.gif (1866 bytes) The Ascension

Luke 24:44-53

The Ascension is one of the major 4 events in Jesus’ life and is included in the basic Creeds yet is the most overlooked, and often neglected altogether.  What importance did this event have, and what does it mean for our lives today?

Jesus is Knocking at Your Door

Revelation 3:20  A sermon for youth.

Jesus calls on all, young and old.  If you haven’t already done so,  listen!   He is calling out to you, because he wants you, he wants to be your friend, your companion, not just for a month or a year or two, not just for this life even, but forever

What will be your answer?

Our Christian Identity

Acts 7:  The Defence of Stephen

What makes us Christians, what makes us a legitimate congregation and church?  Are we relying on the right things for our identity as God's people?  Some startling and timeless lessons from Stephen's sermon that so upset the Jews they stoned him to death.  (A paper on this topic is forthcoming).

He Died for Me

Matthew 18:18   The Lord's Supper ceremony has three central lessons that get to the heart of the Christian faith.

Papers:

The ACTS 15 CONFERENCE

This paper was written for a course in Acts.  It deals particularly with the transition of the early church from being Jewish to becoming predominantly Gentile.  This was a time of great challenge and difficulty for all involved.  Many lessons for today can be learned as we see how God led his people out of legalism and old habits and prejudices to fully understand their calling to be no more Jews and Gentiles, but to be one through faith in Jesus.

Using material from this site: The sermons and articles are provided with the hope and prayer that they will be of use to others.   It is hoped they will be of help to Christians and others who are seeking to understand the Christian faith.  It is particularly hoped that those who are unable to regularly attend an evangelical fellowship will benefit.  I also hope that it would be of some help on occasions to those dedicated servants who minister through preaching, particularly those who are not full time pastors, as I know how much time pressure you are under.

You have permission to do this if it is for your own private use, or for a local congregation, and not published or sold.  If printed or electronically saved and shared it should contain an acknowledgment of the author.

Printing sermons: Some have asked how they can save and or print sermons from this site. In Explorer 5 you  right click to bring up a menu that includes the Print command, you can alternatively highlight just what you wish to print then choose to print and then click print selection). If you are not able to succeed using the print command in your browser  try highlighting the material you want, then copy (CTRL-C in Windows), then go to a new document in your wordprocessor and paste (CTRL-V in Windows).   This should give plain black text that can be printed normally.
